Six Reasons Why
Six days into our Founders’ Fundraising Campaign - six reasons why parents choose Chesterton academies.
1. “I want my child to be a saint. “
The Chesterton Academy of Mandan will be a place where children are formed as sons and daughters of God and pilgrim people in pursuit of their heavenly home. Chesterton, who wrote biographies of two saints - Francis of Assisi and Thomas Aquinas - constantly wrote with the end goal in mind. Understanding the whole of things begins with learning in an environment that teaches all subjects as a wondering at and discovery of God’s creation. The more we learn of God and his creation the more we will be able to love and serve Him on Earth so as to be with him in Heaven forever.
2. “I want my child to discover his or her vocation.”
Last year, 1 in 8 Chesterton graduates had entered seminary or a religious order. These numbers speak to the joy of the schools. The faith is alive and well and Jesus Christ is a real person who can be encountered. The rich soil that the Chesterton academy provides will foster strong roots in the faith. The roots of faith, in turn, will lead to a blossoming of young men and women who find their vocation and live it well. This will be realized through the faithful priests, holy nuns, caring mothers, and devoted husbands who graduate from Chesterton academies.
3. “I want my child to be surrounded by good role models.”
The Chesterton Academy of Mandan seeks dedicated teachers that are not just experts in their craft, but are Christian witnesses to the love of Jesus Christ and ready to take on their vocation as teacher and formator with whit and wisdom. Chesterton academies attract parents that take their roles as primary educators seriously and seek the intentional education, community, and formation that the Chesterton provides.
4. “I want my child to learn that truth exists.”
Take a look at what is posted on social media feeds, discussed on the popular podcasts, and written in the plots of TV shows and movies, most of what is found there would lead someone to believe that morality ends at niceness, truth is different for everybody, and talking about God is silly or ridiculous. It takes an education rooted in logic and philosophy that considers timeless, enduring truths - and challenges students to know them inside and out - to strengthen men and women against the onslaught of relativity and godlessness around them.
5. “I want my child to be prepared for the future.”
Chesterton graduates have gone to study at universities, enter religious life, and work in the trades. Regardless of their profession, they carry the joy and humility that their education immersed them in with them. Employers are looking for reliable men and women who are teachable, hardworking, and driven. These attributes are commonly displayed among Chesterton graduates who have spent four years reading and discussing works that some college graduates have never come across.
6. “I want my child to be able to speak and write clearly.”
We live in an age of expression. Communication is more diverse and instantaneous than ever before. Students at a Chesterton will have been trained in formal and creative writing and composition, acted in numerous plays, sung in a choir for four years, and actively discussed complex topics with their peers and teachers daily.
